![]() ![]() ![]() We were the only people there so instead of just sitting and having a glass of wine, we decided to do the tasting experience and we spent the next couple of hours tasting 4 different wines (2 white, 2 red) along with cheese, salami and crackers to neutralise our taste buds. We arrived at the bakery and rang the doorbell for the wine cellar below, with José coming up to greet us and take us down to the cellar. Very bad experience, huge disappointment.Īfter finding The Wine Cellar mentioned in a 'Hidden gems' travel blog online, I contacted José to book an appointment whilst we were in Amsterdam for my boyfriend's birthday. We can just say that we would never recommend this place. Our disappointment (especially considering the high costs!) was really big, especially after reading all the positive comments about this place. The nibbles were too simple, basically just thrown on a plate and one dish was some kind of supermarket-meat cake heated up in the microwave. The temperature of the Cava and whites was as well not as it should be. ![]() All in all it was a mere promotion and sales/event for the sommeliers own wine / winery, which is producing biological wines that are far from tasty, special, interesting or something else positive. We were a group of 6 but had to share the sommelier with two other groups, which had not been discussed, let alone agreed upon before. The sommelier was far from experienced and professional. However, we expected much much more after all that had been promised and promoted to us and also after the price we had to pay. We organized it before via Email, the "negotiations" were not really accommodating and flexible, but then again - its Amsterdam. We were organizing a birthday surprise - wine tasting for our friend while in Amsterdam. ![]()
